Wednesday, 06 August 2008

Moneysupermarket.com, the price comparison site which has been one of the undoubted stars of the dotcom boom may have to cut around 50 jobs in response to the credit crunch.

The group says it is nearing the end of a consultation process that may result in a reduction of approximately 54 jobs, mainly in its Mortgage 2000 business.

The Deeside-base group employs around 700 people.

Although, the possible cuts are on a relatively small scale, and reflect understandable management caution, the very fact they are being considered illustrates the spread of the economic downturn. Moneysupermarket has consistently been on of the UK's fastest growing firms.
