Thursday, 09 October 2008
Law firm Cobbetts is to axe 10 per cent of its fee earners.

The news reported by the legal magazine The Lawyer is just the latest in a serious of cutbacks across the legal sector,  particularly for those firms heaviliy involved in property.

Around 40 jobs are to go which accounts for at least 11 per cent of the total fee-earner headcount at the firm, says the magazine.

Last year the firm lost 83 fee-earners, or 18 per cent of that group. It now has a third fewer partners than it did two years ago, while the total number of equity partners has also shrunk.
